XOD Itchenor 2008
The XOD class at
Itchenor Sailing Club
Close racing
2007 was the 75th Anniversary of X boats racing at Itchenor. Amazingly, X’s have been racing at Itchenor all these years, yet the Class remains vibrant, competitive and forward looking.
The quality of the racing is the key to the success of the X boat. Whenever you sail an X you can be sure of good competition. The boats are equal. Turnouts are good. Races are keenly contested throughout the fleet with a wide range of skills amongst helms and crew.
On top of that, an X is relatively affordable to own and crewing problems
are minimal. An X can be raced competitively with two up, or if the wind
strengthens, with three. A safe cockpit and a modest spinnaker means there
doesn’t need to be a gorilla amongst them.
In the season, there are more than eighty races programmed, every weekend on Saturdays and Sundays and on every other Wednesday evening too.
You will find that those of us who sail an X at Itchenor are friendly, relaxed and a source of lots of helpful advice.
Welcome!
